AE86 Big Brake Upgrade Brackets for 14" Wheels
Ingredients:
- 1 pair of '65-66 Shelby Mustang GT350 front calipers (184401 / 184400) & brake pads
- 1 pair of '86-88 Toyota Cressida Sedan (not Wagon) front rotors (43512-22100
- 1 pair of 25mm (20mm if you can find them) 4x114.3 wheel spacers
- The occamotif front caliper adapter kit (or make your own)
- 1 pair of 20" 7/16" banjo-to-3/8-24 female inlet inverted flare brake lines (braided preferably)
- 1 pair of 3/8-24 male inverted flare-to-female M10x1 adapters
The process is pretty straight forward - the only real manual labor involved will be re-drilling the Cressida rotors to match the AE86 bolt circle diameter of 87mm (3.425"). You can either do this yourself by first marking the locations with an accurate template and punch, then on a drill press or take them to a machine shop.
The rest is just putting it all together like Legos.
The '65-68 Shelby Mustang GT350 calipers are readily available - you can even find a new set (aftermarket) for under $100 shipped. If later on you're looking for lighter, prettier versions Wilwood has a drop in set (p/n: 120-16510) in either anodized, black, red or a custom color of your choice starting at $333.
Also, consider upgrading from the factory AE86 proportioner to the Wilwood 260-11179 Proportioning Valve to dial in your ideal brake bias.
